Shin is a Partner at Atomico based in Tokyo, where he leads the firm’s work in helping portfolio companies to scale and expand into Japan.
Prior to joining Atomico, Shin was President of Skype Japan K.K., where he developed key local relationships to help the company grow successfully into Japan. He was an integral part of establishing vital global tv integration partnerships with Panasonic VIERA and Sony BRAVIA and built strong relationships with native wireless carriers. Companies including SmartNews, Rovio, Gengo and Supercell have benefitted from his experience as they have scaled their businesses into Japan.
Shin began his career as a software engineering manager at Lotus and Microsoft, following his graduation from Keio University with a Bachelor degree in physics.
Passionate about nurturing the next generation of Japanese tech superstars, Shin recently set up a new project called Mirai-ScapeMirai-Scape, a life story sharing service in Japan, which aims to encourage an entrepreneurial mindset in young people.
