Quipper specialises in e-learning mobile apps. Founded by Masa Watanabe (co-founder of DeNA) in December 2010, the company’s main focus is to distribute diversified learning contents including languages, qualifications, and school entrance exams over an ever-expanding range of topics, in multiple-choice quiz format. Content comes from publishing houses and experts; Quipper also offers a content-creation platform to connect knowledge distributors with learners. As of October 2012 over 120m questions have been answered on the platform. The product is available on the iPhone and Android app stores.
Atomico has invested alongside Globis and Benesse, in additional to angels.
In July 2015, Quipper was acquired by Recruit Holdings.
