Janus Friis is a Co-founder and Venture Partner at Atomico, assisting portfolio companies and creating new opportunities within the technology sector.

Janus is a leading entrepreneur having co-founded Skype, Kazaa, Joost and Joltid, among other high-profile technology companies.

During his time at Skype, Janus pioneered the development of the company's voice products and helped it to become the global leader in internet communications, with more than 309m registered users within five years of launch. In 2005, Skype was sold to eBay Inc for $3.1 bn. In 2009, Janus played an active role in the consortium that bought Skype back from eBay and he has returned to the Skype board to focus on product strategy.

Janus first met Niklas at Tele2 in 1997 where together they launched get2net and everyday.com. Janus began his career in technology at CyberCity, one of Denmark's first Internet Service Providers.

Janus’s most recent start-up is Rdio, a company providing online music services set for launch in 2010, where he holds the position of chairman of the board.
